I have two daughter's my oldest has stright silky hair really long, but my four year old has tight thick hair, it's a good length but it's very unmanageable. My people on my mom's side is from India so my hair is curly all I do is wash and go. So doing her hair has been a challenge for me. At one point her doctor told me I was stressing it and it was coming out. So I stopped using rubber bands etc. Since she started prek on Monday I decided It would be a good idea but my grandma cussed me out. She said I was changing the baby hair texture and messing it up. She said kids should not have chemicals put in their hair till at least 8. I did a texturizer instead of a perm because I though it was less harmful and it did make her hair more manageable. What do you ladies think should I have waited?

hair post texturizer
You should have waited .... jmo.... Her hair looked great before for her age. If I had a girl I would wait until she told me SHE wanted chems!

I don't see anything wrong with her hair before the texturizer...

Furthermore, you need to be ashamed of yourself, that child no doubt already feels insecure because her's is the different textured hair, now you have gone and made it more like everyone elses...SMMFH.

I liked her hair before IMO you should have waited. Im going natural so I couldn't picture myself putting chemicals in my kids' hair
It might have seemed hard to handle bc you didn't know how to take care of her hair. For example: if I do not braid and condition my hair good after I wash, a comb will not go through it. I think with chems it's harder to care for the hair bc it's drier and needs more tlc. If you don't treat it right, it will break off easier
